Our vision is to see research flow seamlessly, pushing humanity forward. We believe this ambitious mission can only be achieved by building an open, collaborative, and truly inclusive community.
The Inclusion Hub is our dedicated space for the tools and resources that help us cultivate a workplace where every individual feels valued and belongs.
We're committed to building an environment where a rich mix of voices and diverse perspectives drive innovation. This is where we go beyond policy and put inclusive practice at the heart of our daily actions, ensuring everyone can be their best self and do their best work.
Our Inclusive Practice Toolkit
Creating an inclusive workplace is a collective effort, and this toolkit is designed to provide you with practical guidance and resources to help you be a better ally and colleague. The resources here go beyond our formal policies to help you navigate important topics with confidence and empathy. We will continue to expand this toolkit with new content, but for now, you will find information on:
Reasonable Adjustments and Accommodations: Understanding how to create an accessible workplace for people with disabilities and neurodiversities.
A Guide to Support You Through Your Transition: A guide for people who are transitioning genders at work, and for managers and colleagues on how to support them through the process.
Supporting People Through Menopause: Resources to help you understand and support colleagues experiencing menopause.
You can find the full Inclusive Practice Toolkit here. This toolkit is a living resource that will grow over time, so check back for new guidance and updates.
We believe a fair and equitable workplace is essential for our global success. We've developed two core policies to guide our commitment: the Global Equality and Anti-Discrimination Policy and the Global Dignity and Respect at Work Policy. These policies work together to ensure that our workplace is free from discrimination, harassment, and other harmful behaviours.
Our Inclusion Policies
Global Equality and Anti-Discrimination Policy: This policy outlines our commitment to providing equal opportunities in all aspects of employment, from recruitment and hiring to training and promotion. It prohibits unlawful discrimination based on legally protected characteristics, which can include age, disability, gender, race, and sexual orientation, among others.
Global Dignity and Respect at Work Policy: This policy reinforces our commitment to a positive working environment built on mutual dignity and respect. It addresses and defines unacceptable behaviours such as harassment, bullying, microaggressions, and minimisation. This policy applies both in and outside of the workplace, including at work-related events or on social media.
Policy FAQs
What are these policies about? These two new policies strengthen Digital Science's commitment to creating a fair, equitable, and inclusive workplace for everyone.
Who do these policies apply to? They apply to everyone at Digital Science, including employees, officers, agency workers, casual workers, consultants, self-employed contractors, and other third parties who engage with us.
What is considered harassment under the Dignity and Respect at Work Policy? Harassment is defined as any unwanted physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct that violates a person's dignity or creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating, or offensive environment for them. This can be a single incident and includes sexual harassment or harassment related to protected characteristics.
What are microaggressions? Microaggressions are subtle or indirect comments, questions, phrases, jokes, or body language that can, often unintentionally, make individuals feel alienated or excluded.
What should I do if I experience or witness a violation of these policies? You're strongly encouraged to report any incidents to your line manager, your manager's manager, or the People Team. You can also use our confidential and independent whistleblowing service, Safecall.
Will I be protected if I report a concern? Yes. Digital Science will not victimize or retaliate against any individual who makes a complaint or raises an issue in good faith. Making a false allegation deliberately and in bad faith, however, will be treated as a disciplinary matter.
