Wellbeing is a holistic state of health where you feel happy, healthy, and purposeful. It’s defined by the World Health Organization as an optimal state where an individual can realize their potential, cope with stress, work productively, and contribute to their community. More than just the absence of illness, it’s a combination of physical, mental, emotional, and social health that allows you to "be well and do well."
Physical Wellbeing
This is about your overall health and energy. It includes having enough energy for both work and personal life. Maintaining physical wellbeing involves healthy habits like regular exercise, good nutrition, and adequate sleep.
Mental Wellbeing
This relates to your cognitive clarity and focus. A healthy mind is characterized by a growth mindset, high stress tolerance, self-confidence, and a desire to learn. An unhealthy mind often leads to rumination, anxiety, and a lack of motivation.
Emotional Wellbeing
This is the ability to be self-aware and centered. It involves accepting and constructively expressing your own emotions, as well as understanding the feelings of others. You can improve this through practices like mindfulness and building emotional intelligence.
Social Wellbeing
This is about meaningful connections and community. It involves having a strong support system, a sense of belonging, and engaging with others in a mutually beneficial way.
