This article explains how to use 1Password as your Multi Factor Authentication method for accessing your JumpCloud console. This will save you lots of time over the year instead of consulting your Google Authenticator app.

 Instructions

This guide assumes Chrome as the web browser

  1. Ensure you’ve got the 1Password extension

Check that the 1Password extension is installed to Chrome

  1. If you don’t have the 1Password extension in Chrome click the 3 dots > Extensions > manage extensions > search for 1Password

  2. Visit https://console.jumpcloud.com/userconsole#/security and log in as normal

Click “Set up Authenticator App”

If you already use another authenticator app, you will need to click reset here before you set up again. Once you’ve clicked “Reset” please go to step 4

  1. The next screen will look like either of these:

For this screen simply choose “I have an app”

For this screen click the top left option “Authenticator App”

  1. You see a QR Code like so:

  2. Open the 1Password extension, the three dots at the top right of your new 1Password item. Choose your JumpCloud account in 1Password, then click on “Scan QR Code”. This is where the magic happens! 1Password will read the QR Code on your screen and henceforth generate your One Time Passwords for JumpCloud.

Click Scan QR Code

  1. If this fails (sometimes this can happen on Macs), do not despair. Instead click on and copy the code from JumpCloud into 1Password’s “One Time Password” section:

  1. Copy the “One Time Password” from the 1Password extension and paste it to the “Enter Verification Code” on the final set up page

Copy from here
